To use Zapper, you need to have web3 assets on an EVM-compatible wallet. If you are new to web3, it’s possible that you don’t have any assets yet! This article includes some tips for how to load your wallet with funds to get started using Zapper.
Most people will need to use a “fiat onramp” to exchange your government-issued currency (fiat) for a cryptocurrency of your choice. That cryptocurrency will then need to be sent to the wallet you have connected to Zapper.
Depending on where you live, there will be different fiat onramps available to you. In the US, for example, you can use fiat onramps like Coinbase, Binance, crypto.com, Blockfi, FTX, and Kraken.
It is important to note that many of these companies are legally required to complete Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification for every person who uses their service. KYC verification is essentially identity verification. You could be asked to provide the company a photocopy of a piece of government-issued ID, and even a picture of yourself holding up that same piece of ID so they can confirm you are who you say you are.
Because these companies are asking for such personal information, please be sure to do your own research to choose the company you feel most comfortable sharing that information with.
